Handmade ring with malachite and bound with 925 silver.
HISTORY OF THE STONE:
• Its name comes from the Greek word "molocha" from the color of the sexes of the plant. Malachite is commonly found together with azurite.
• There is an entire "Malachite Room" at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia. The largest piece of malachite is in the reading room of the Linda Hall Library in Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
• In ancient times it was believed that if someone drank from a malachite jug he could understand the language of animals.
• In ancient Egypt, its powder was used as a cosmetic and as a shade for the eyes and eyelids.
• The columns of the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, and St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg were all encrusted with malachite.
